Qualifications:     

Active PA Health/PE K-12 certification is required.

Bachelor's and/or Master's in Education is required.

Knowledge of health and physical education standards, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.

Experience working with students in a classroom or instructional setting.

Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Passion for the promotion of physical fitness, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices among students.

Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.

Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for physical activities and sports.

Description:

 

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community.  SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.

 

This position will be a Health/PE Teacher split between both our Elementary Schools (Erdenheim and Enfield).  This new position will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive health curriculum and program for K-5 while also providing support and collaboration with the physical education program.  Ultimately, the successful candidate will be a key member of our Health/PE team which promotes students' physical fitness, wellness, and overall health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum for health and physical education classes, aligned with state standards and educational goals.

- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote students' understanding of health-related topics, including nutrition, fitness, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.

- Teach students fundamental movement skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and sports rules through a variety of physical activities and sports.

- Incorporate technology, multimedia resources, and hands-on activities to enhance student learning and engagement.

- Assess student learning through a variety of methods, such as written exams, skill demonstrations, and fitness assessments.

- Provide feedback to students on their performance and progress, and offer guidance for improvement.

- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and safety.

- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners to support students' health and wellness initiatives.

- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices.

 

Terms of employment:     

Full-time, contracted position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.  Position to begin at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
